Food was quite average - sweet BBQ sauce overpowered oysters Kilpatrick, risotto was adequate but not great, and schnitzel arrived so overcooked the edges were black (sent back). Was recommended an excellent bottle of Shiraz, though (which saved the night - West Cape Howe Shiraz, for anyone wondering), and the waitress was lovely. Getting 3 stars instead of 2 purely for the waitress and the wine.
One of the few pubs in the area with craft beer. Not much of a buzz though, bit too quiet.
Port Fairy was mostly asleep when we rolled in at 7.30 on a wintery Wednesday nIght, but this unassuming looking pub opened out to a fireplace-warm and spacious dining area. The waitress working the FOH single-handedly was professional, personable and happy to talk us through the menu and specials. The menu was expensive looking so we chose a special and a gem from the regular menu which were delicious and generous. Good wine list too.
Ridiculously overpriced food. Even if wed all paid $10 less it would have still been disappointed. My steak was over cooked, burnt and the chips were partially raw. Save your cash and go anywhere else
Large amount of seating and reasonable outdoor space. Beverage list is super limited compared to other places in the area. That said if you are looking for a casual local pub and don't mind what you drink too much, then this is a good place.
